During my entire career as an interventional cardiologist, starting an interventional cardiology program at FCHC is the most exciting and gratifying thing that I have done. In the past, I practiced in an area where these services were available at numerous facilities within a few miles of each other and available from multiple other cardiologist. Having the opportunity to provide these services locally is truly an honor. The Board of Directors along with the hospital administration are making a substantial investment to expand the cardiovascular services that can be offered here. Numerous studies have shown that every ten minutes care is delayed, increases mortality by a little over 3%. Patients will no longer need transported to Toledo or Fort Wayne and can receive care within minutes as opposed to an hour or more. Once the renovations are completed, FCHC will have the 2 state of the art cath labs. With the exception of open heart surgery, we will be able to provide almost any procedure a patient could possibly need.
